Solution

As a general guideline you need an accredited Certificate in TEFL or TESOL to be qualified to teach. Your course provider should also be able to offer you a teaching practice option at an accredited language school. The teaching practice must include at least 6 hours of observed teaching.

I am new to the world of TEFL/TESOL and I don’t know which course to take

Some courses I’ve seen are 40 hours in length. I want to be qualified to teach worldwide and I don’t know whether these courses will be sufficient

There are so many different course providers telling me different things that looking for a course seems like stepping into a minefield! How do I know who is giving me valid information?
