The state of Kerala is located in the south west of India between Western Ghat mountains and the Arabian Sea. The National Geographic lists Kerala as one of the 50 ‘must see’ destinations on earth.

Kerala has breathtaking scenery - beautiful lagoon country, lush mountain regions with spice and tea plantations, superb sandy beaches and swaying green palms. In addition there are Kerala’s performing arts - festivals accompanied by elephant processions, rhythmic drumming and spectacular fireworks. The cuisine of the region is superb and includes excellent vegetarian dishes plus an abundance of fresh fish and seafood.

The people are very friendly, welcoming and ‘laid back’

	Kovalam – this is the place to ‘get away from it all’ and slow down to a Keralan way of life! It offers one of the most colourful beach resorts in India. The beach stretches for miles and combined with a backdrop of tropical green palms and inviting blue sea make this a breathtaking scene - perfect for unwinding from your day’s lessons under the shade of a swaying palm! Local life is fascinating and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to take part.
Shop on Mahatma Ghandi Road, take a taxi, a wonderful old Ambassador, better known to us as the old Morris Oxford. Prepare to be the subject of a great deal of fascination - a smile is all it takes to put you and the locals at ease and it will almost always be returned with a sunny smile back!
	The school is located in Thiruvananthapuram (known as Trivandrum) which is the capital of the state of Kerala. This is a fast, noisy and hectic city, spread over 7 hills with a variety of lovely old colonial and traditional Keralan buildings, yet surrounded by the tropical green of the coconut groves, it has a unique charm.
